Air Force Agile Revetment Challenge Q&A session

Confirmed for Monday, April 5, 2021
Online
Future Air Force operations are expected to require infrastructure solutions that can be rapidly transported and assembled using fewer human and aircraft resources. We are seeking to identify and engage leading researchers to make significant advancements in state of the art protective structures. The Wright Brothers Institute (WBI) is working in partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory ( AFRL ) to sponsor a challenge to meet this need. Example solutions may involve a multidisciplinary approach that combines deployable structural materials, advanced space filling materials, and autonomous hardening processes for asset protection. Solutions should maximally use materials found at the site and limit heavy machinery use as much as possible. The competition will be held in 3 stages. First, the participants are asked to submit a white paper (3-4) pages on what technologies or capabilities they have to support the competition. The authors of 4-5 of these submissions will be contacted by the Air Force award committee and asked to participate in a zoom conference to discuss their approach. The selected teams will then be given $20K to build a benchtop demo to show feasibility of the concept.
